The specialization is what separates this camp from all the rest. First, campers will be exposed to an extremely high level of coaching. Coaches involved in the P2D Target Camp range from current and former professional/college coaches, players and trainers, who know and understand the highest level of pitching performance, along with current players, managers and analysts who will be assisting.
Campers will be evaluated individually and given specific feedback unique to them. The assessment is not only from a pitching perspective. Even though video and analysis will be given from a mechanical point of view, campers will also be run through a series of movement screenings that will help not only identify strengths but possible insufficiencies they can then target and start to help enhance or correct. Each camper will leave with feedback, exercises, and drills to help them continue their growth and development on the mound and as an athlete.
Continuing, the education portion of this camp is second to none. This camp is hyper specialized, giving campers individual feedback not only on movement patterns but also, we will collect and go over all their analytical data with them. Using either Trackman or Rapsodo Technology, we will gather velocity, spin rate, movement, release and more to help each athlete start to gather a better understanding of who they are and where they stand as a pitcher. However, we do not stop at data gathering, a data presentation is included with the camp which helps both campers and parents have a better understanding of the numbers.
Health and arm care screenings and presentation: The All Encompassing P2D Target Camp believes knowing your body and arm is a key to long term health and durability. Along with the screenings, areas of trouble will be flagged and pointed out to each athlete. Additionally, a healthy arm, body and nutrition presentation will be given to both athletes and parents to help them navigate arm care, pitch counts and limits as they move forward throughout their career. We understand injury is part of sports and that sometimes no matter what precautions are taken, injuries occur. However, we know the line sometimes between growth and injury is toed. We want to help each athlete understand limits and proper health to help them maintain a successful career.
Even though the price is a little more than the average camp, the P2D Target Camp is far beyond average. The price listed is good for this year only and due to demand will increase after the first of the year. We are excited to introduce this style of exclusive camp to the Carolinas and offer a money back guarantee after the 1st day if any camper is not fully satisfied.
Everything surrounding this camp is geared toward helping athletes understand who they are as a pitcher and how to better improve and build off their skills and ceiling of ability. We believe, as Michael Jordan once said, “The ceiling is the roof!”
Here at CTA and P2D “ELITE” is a mindset. We welcome and encourage campers of all skill sets. We are all as good (or not good) as we think we are. Our goal here at CTA and P2D is to help each pitcher become the best version of themselves thus reaching ELITE status. Some campers are trying to make their High School JV or Varsity Team, some are trying to improve to help their high school team win or catch the eye of college recruiters and some campers are trying to find that final extra edge to help drive them to the highest level possible. Whatever, the motivation or case ELITE is a state of mind we strive to help each camper achieve.
Here at CTA and the P2D Target Camp, velocity is not the driving force. Do not get us wrong, we believe and have fully seen velocity jumps. Such goals can be made and reached with things like: an established throwing program, proper training, sound mechanical work and understanding how the body works efficiently. Each of those ingredients we bring to the table for our athletes here at P2D. All of us have been around the game long enough to know that it takes more than velocity to sometimes create an effective pitcher. Velocity is often a selling point for camps, clinics and scholarship chasing. However, the ability to throw strikes, understand how “your” stuff works to get outs and have an understanding for a repeatable delivery are keys to becoming a sustained successful pitcher as well as gain those velocity jumps so many are often seeking. What we have come to discover is that velocity jumps have come as a byproduct and in addition to all the other things we are focusing on here at P2D.
Yes, this camp is a pitching and throwing camp. It is designed to give you analytical and velocity feedback predicated on throwing with game speed exertion. It is recommended that you throw prior to camp to build up. (Consult a coach or doctor for a build up throwing program prior if necessary - do not just, all of a sudden, step on the mound or jump right into high intensity long toss!) Also, it is not recommended to attend camp if you have thrown in a live game situation 1-2 days prior to attending camp. If you do attend camp the day or two after a game, you need to inform our staff of your last outing and how many pitches you threw. Again, you will be asked to throw in this camp with an intensity level that is ultimately up to you. The previous guidelines are to help ensure your health and safety as well as give you the best feedback regarding camp.
